Karin van Driel started her career in banking but later discovered her passion for writing children's books.
Her debut titles: "Timothy and the Secret of Mi-Yu" and "Boom!" and "Timothy Sees Stars", were received with enthusiasm. Building on that success, she authored: "Help! I'm Bored", a book that inspires kids to unplug from their screens and explore the world around them. Her debut novel for young adults, titled: "I Call You Míu", will be released soon:
“Following your heart is the greatest act of rebellion.” - Osho -
In this novel, we follow the life of a young woman, actually a girl, who grows up around 500 AD in the region of current Xi’an, China.
Her life revolves around working, eating, and sleeping. She receives no love, except from her grandparents.
They help her become strong and independent by nurturing her with knowledge and teaching her skills. They also introduce her to the Shaolin monks.
One day, she decides to run away from home. She ventures deep into nature and meets her great love, Jee. Despite their different backgrounds, there is a magical connection between the two young women.
In the period that follows, she learns valuable lessons about freedom and inner strength, about rediscovering oneself by allowing vulnerability.
The legend of Míu is my way of paying tribute to the women who have been forgotten throughout history…
