Mónica Waalwijk de Carvalho, an Honorary Member at #FAR, started her career as a graphic designer and art director at various design agencies. She graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and founded Artgrafica in 1982. A versatile, successful and innovative design agency based in the heart of Amsterdam with clients such as Hermitage Amsterdam, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and various book and magazine publishers.

In December 2019 she decided to continue her interest in painting and collages and now she alternates her work as a designer with painting and collage making.

Her work is versatile and colorful. Photography, language and a considerable amount of artifacts and materials collected over the years are a constant source of inspiration.
